What should I record first?
Identify the actual supplier and read its current report for context. Describe whether the concern affects one fixture or the entire home, hot or cold water and whether it followed plumbing or filter work. The smell alone does not establish a contaminant concentration.
What changes the recommendation?
Compare a drinking-water tap filter with an appropriately specified point-of-entry system. Ask for a supported claim that matches the goal and for the flow, capacity and replacement conditions needed to maintain it. Different disinfectants can change media selection and design.
What should the service scope include?
Keep the equipment purpose specific in the quote and plan a performance check. A taste improvement does not establish removal of every potential substance, while a softener alone is primarily a hardness treatment. Contact the supplier for a sudden distribution concern.
Apply the correct source evidence
Confirm the supplier on the property water bill. Port St. Lucie’s public report applies to its Utility Systems customers; a mailing address does not prove supplier, and a private well needs its own testing. See the Port St. Lucie source guide before applying a report or selecting a treatment goal.
Review the 2025 Water Quality Report for the appropriate source boundary. Source review: October 4, 2026. This guide provides decision questions; equipment selection and any safety-related interpretation require appropriate measurements and qualified advice.
