What should I record first?
Identify the media, vessel, valve and original target. A whole-home carbon system can be selected for a defined taste, odor or disinfectant-reduction goal, but the correct media and operating conditions depend on that goal.
What changes the recommendation?
Ask how service life is assessed, whether flow and contact time meet the intended claim and whether channeling, sediment or valve trouble should be investigated. A generic bag of carbon is not evidence that a complete system meets a particular reduction claim.
What should the service scope include?
Compare removal, disposal, replacement media specification, startup flushing and performance verification in the service scope. Carbon service does not restore hardness removal in a separate softener, so record which tank is being worked on.
Apply the correct source evidence
Confirm the supplier on the property water bill. Port St. Lucie’s public report applies to its Utility Systems customers; a mailing address does not prove supplier, and a private well needs its own testing. See the Port St. Lucie source guide before applying a report or selecting a treatment goal.
Review the 2025 Water Quality Report for the appropriate source boundary. Source review: October 4, 2026. This guide provides decision questions; equipment selection and any safety-related interpretation require appropriate measurements and qualified advice.
