What should I record first?
Compare a hardness reading before and after the softener, confirm the unit is in service rather than bypass, and record its model, displayed error and last successful regeneration. An appliance stain alone does not prove the valve or resin has failed.
What changes the recommendation?
A service visit should distinguish a control or programming problem, an obstructed brine path, inadequate salt supply and exhausted or damaged resin. Ask which observation supports the diagnosis and whether the proposed part restores the stated capacity.
What should the service scope include?
Request the diagnostic charge, parts and labor, warranty on the repair and a post-service hardness check. If the model is unsupported or several components need work, compare the repair with a complete replacement scope rather than authorizing a series of uncertain repairs.
Apply the correct source evidence
Confirm the supplier on the property water bill. Port St. Lucie’s public report applies to its Utility Systems customers; a mailing address does not prove supplier, and a private well needs its own testing. See the Port St. Lucie source guide before applying a report or selecting a treatment goal.
Review the 2025 Water Quality Report for the appropriate source boundary. Source review: October 4, 2026. This guide provides decision questions; equipment selection and any safety-related interpretation require appropriate measurements and qualified advice.
