What should I record first?
Record hardness before and after treatment, resin volume if documented, regeneration settings and any incoming iron or other relevant findings. Poor softening can arise from settings or brine faults without the resin needing replacement.
What changes the recommendation?
A provider should explain the evidence for resin degradation or fouling, the proposed resin specification and the condition of the distributor and control valve. Compare a resin-only repair with the cost and warranty of a full replacement.
What should the service scope include?
Ask whether cleaning, removal, disposal, startup and treated-water testing are included. Preserve the final capacity and salt settings. Replacing resin without fixing an incompatible incoming-water condition may leave the original problem unresolved.
Apply the correct source evidence
Confirm the supplier on the property water bill. Port St. Lucie’s public report applies to its Utility Systems customers; a mailing address does not prove supplier, and a private well needs its own testing. See the Port St. Lucie source guide before applying a report or selecting a treatment goal.
