What should I record first?
List the measured problem, the failing component, parts availability and the current equipment's capacity. A repair is useful when it restores a suitable system; a replacement is useful when it addresses a documented limitation that repair cannot reasonably resolve.
What changes the recommendation?
Compare diagnostic charges, likely additional repairs, covered labor and warranty, consumables and installation changes. Do not count optional stages as improvements unless each stage has a defined job supported by the water findings.
What should the service scope include?
Request the result that will be checked after either option. Keep removal, disposal, bypass changes, drain work and startup explicit. The right decision depends on the actual equipment and quote, so this guide does not set a universal age or price threshold.
Apply the correct source evidence
Confirm the supplier on the property water bill. Port St. Lucie’s public report applies to its Utility Systems customers; a mailing address does not prove supplier, and a private well needs its own testing. See the Port St. Lucie source guide before applying a report or selecting a treatment goal.
Review the 2025 Water Quality Report for the appropriate source boundary. Source review: October 4, 2026. This guide provides decision questions; equipment selection and any safety-related interpretation require appropriate measurements and qualified advice.
